Update 20-11-2009

Gosh exam is so near and i am so dead! Haven't really get the 'study mood' and I am so busy doing nothing....
To keep up with the blog post, hers sth to share. Recently my club in Medan did a JFF award dinner, which JFF = Just For Fun. So if anyone wants to know who got those awards and all can visit: http://mcccusu.wordpress.com/ (i won sth...)

Anyway, today is the last tutorial for this semester and the last tutorial with my dear tutorial mates and a very cool tutorial teacher, Dr. Rasita. Just here to say that it was my BEST TURORIAl GROUP so far, and i enjoyed it very much, especially the free food part! Next semester's tutorial will be a whole new start with different faces, so good luck everyone in the upcoming exam.

And yeah, i watched the movie 2012, and its so nice!!! but the teather in Indonesia have such small screen unlike the GSC ones....so if can, maybe go back Msia and watch 2nd time! The director of 2012 whoever u are, really roxx, and Karpov is really funny: "Antonov...It's Russian!!" and "Shut up!!!.............Start, Bentley!" is still so fresh in my mind.

Thats all, Time Is of the Essence and one can never have enuff time in a day. So tata!

A Doctor's Guide to The New Ballard Score

There are several ways to determine the gestational age of your baby, one can take a history on when was the last day of the mom's menstruation or Ultrasonography can be used (valid for pregnancy <20). The New Ballard Score is a system created by Dr. Jeanne Ballard, MD to assess the gestational age of neonates after they are born. These test are best performed within 12 hours after the birth of the neonate. There are 6 Neuromuscular parameters/criterias and 6 Physical parameters/criterias.

-refer to the New Ballard Score Sheet for scoring purposes-

Neuromuscular Maturity
(1) posture
(2) square window (wrist)
(3) arm recoil
(4) popliteal angle
(5) scarf sign
(6) heel to ear

Physical Maturity
(1) skin
(2) lanugo hair
(3) plantar surface
(4) breast
(5) Eye and ear
(6) Genitals

New Ballard Score = Sum of points for each parameter
The total score reflects the gestational age of the neonate (in weeks)

Lets SMACK and SMASH!

Two weeks ago, i have been listening to Hitz.fm online and heard a song i like named "Smack Into You" by Jon Mclaughlin. So, i went to Limewire and downloaded the song. Until recently, i watched a movie - "Obsessed" stared by some macho man, Beyonce, and the split personality chick from TV hit series "Heroes" (dunno whats her name...) At the end of the movie they played the same song except that it was sang by a girl (Jon Mclaughlin is a guy). So, i did some digging and found out that the same song was sang by Beyonce herself, but named: "Smash Into You" instead of Smack....

Well, both version is very nice and i like it very much. Then i found this on Youtube, A combination of both! Its not an Official song anyhow...but i still like this combination Duet!

Really hope that they can come out with a Duet Version...

Coming soon on Oct 8: An Indonesian invasion of Malaysia

Courtesy of Unspun from http://theunspunblog.com/tag/anti-malaysia/

Probably not since the Taiping rebellion has so much idealism, foolishness, naivety and stupidity has been combined with so much misguided idealism, nationalism and foolishness.

The Benteng Demokrasi Rakyat intends to invade Malaysia with bows and arrows, black magic and other paraphernalia on October 8. One doubts if they would be able to even mount anything on Malaysian soil on that day but if they do so one can only hope that they make a bee line for KJ so he can show how brave he is in the face of hotheads like himself.

What’s remarkable about this whole thing is that there is this bunch of hotheads arming themselves, giving themselves paramilitary training and making public statements about how they intend to invade a neighboring country – and the police in Indonesia do not do anything about it.

And what’s the invovement of the PDIP in all of this? The HQ of the Benteng guys is in a former operations center of the PDIP. What’s the connection?

This from The Jakarta Globe today:

Indonesian Vigilantes Prepare For Battle in Malaysia
At this moment in Jakarta, a group of Indonesians are putting the final touches to their plan to invade Malaysia and wage war. Benteng Demokrasi Rakyat has announced Oct. 8 as the date of this D-day, when it says it will avenge all the wrongs committed against Indonesia by its neighbor .

Established during this year’s presidential election, the group, also known as the People’s Democratic Defense, has attracted public attention with its protests calling on Indonesians to “kill Malaysians.” Earlier this month, the group set up roadblocks in Menteng, Central Jakarta, in an attempt to detain Malaysian citizens.

However, the roadblocks failed to net any Malaysians, according to Mustar Bona Ventura, the group’s coordinator. “If we had caught them, we would have sent them home,” the 32-year-old economics student said.

He said the group’s anti-Malaysian stance was not motivated solely by claims that the neighboring country has been busy stealing Indonesia’s culture.

“It’s the whole thing, including the claims on our islands and the abusive treatment of Indonesian migrant workers,” he said. “The breaking point was when they insulted us through our national anthem, ‘Indonesia Raya.’ ”

Overall, it was a fun day and the end was really nice!
We start of with some speech from certain 'not so important' people....then followed by our dinner!!! Wow..it was a Damn! nice meal, Chinese malaysia style Hainan Chicken rice! Ichiban, cant believe i can eat this in Medan! Love the F&B ppl and thanks them 4 the delicious food, u all r the best cook!.... during the makan-makan time, we showed the video (ahem..the one that i made...my video =P)

Nice selection of songs including Lee Hom, Ah Mei, Guang Liang, Michael Jackson, Westlife make the entire agenda more like a Karaoke.... then thee day ends with a photo taking session while me and Mannfred blast the hall with Crazy high bass party songs, becoming sth like a DJ..haha.

Well, tats all for today, exam's on next wednesday. wish me luck!

A Very Spontaneous Weekend

After participating in the organizing committee for Malaysians' Orientation 2009, the original plan was to continue with my studies and the upcoming weekend seems like the prefect time to do it. Sadly, it didn't not turn up like how it was suppose to be...

Firstly, Saturday was my housemate Quah's birthday and we threw him a birthday BBQ!!!

Then, on the Sunday which i'm suppose to be free... Me and my F30 friends decided to have a spontaneous trip to Berastagi! (Berastagi is a place like 'Cameron Highland in Indonesia' lar....)

So, at 7am i walk to my friends house and waited until 8am before we depart. Due to the event 'Ganesha Chatruki', we prayed at a nearby worshiping spot before leaving Medan. The journey to Berastagi took us 1 and a half hour and we stop by Hillpark for around an hour to play some lame games (lol*). The first place we went when we reach the town is of course the Berastagi Market!
Oh!! btw, we rented 2 cars: a Toyota Innova Kijang 2.5 and a Toyota Avanza!
Some pictures from the market:

Actually my friends from F30 wanted to buy a puppy, but dunno why....Tak jadi...
Just look at them, so adorable! Who wouldn't want to have them? ( *ahem* besides the Pak who is trying to sell them...)Next stop, S.Piso-piso waterfall. It is a very popular tourist spot for its natural beauty and it is located at the North end of Danau Toba (the real Danau Toba tourist spot is around 2 hours drive from S.Piso-piso, that's how big the Toba lake is....) The weather at Berastagi starts to become very cold already since it's almost evening...After some climbing and walking we reached the bottom of the waterfall. Since its a very 'big' and 'tall' waterfall (whatever words to describe it..) there is just no way to go under it. We stand around 100meters (No, maybe 200meters) from the waterfall and tried to admire the view....and we were soaked from head to toe in seconds.....!
Nevertheless, maybe due to the cold weather and water droplets from the waterfall, there are some pretty beautiful flora bloomed down there.

Its 'raining' down there!
The day ended when we reached Medan around 10pm and have our dinner @ Ayam Bakar Penyet...fuh....very tired, have class at 7am on the next day somemore....
p/s: Prof. Dr. Esani Karrupiah, SpOG, Drive carefully please....dunno why you rushing home...bukan macam u ada dating pun..

Creating a 3D image using the AI

No need to mention, today must be another boring day, alone at home...i enjoyed it though...lol.

I dunno if i was inspired by what-so-ever, but i did a little graphics thingy today...as a passtime, using Adobe Illustrator (AI) version CS3 (the only one i got), a program which I'm not really familiar with....
but i at least know how to create a 3D logo using AI. Here's a guide to create for example a 3D Facebook logo:

1) First, open a basic CMYK or a RGB document, from the 'tools' bar on the left, select the rectangle tool and draw the square and the rectangle part of the logo. Apply the suitable colour to the logo and remove the colour of lines for the objects:

2) Use 'Type tool' to write the letter 'f' and adjust the position and font, if the 'f' appears to be blocked by the square, bring it forward. Coloured it white:

3) Select all, right click and 'group' all the items created so far. For making the 3D effect, firstly select the entire logo, go to the menu bar > 'effect' > '3D' > 'Extrude and bevel' . Then you are free to rotate and adjust the object. The extrude depth is set to 50pt and you might want to increase it to about 100pt. Press 'OK' and you have your 3D facebook logo!

** Remember to always select your object before applying any effects, selection can be done using selection tool or direct selection tool on the 'tools' bar **

Finally, go 'file' > 'export' as 'jpeg' format.....

Wah!!! Crazy Last Day of Holidays!!!

Wohaha! Last day of holidays?? Although this sentence does not refers to me but most of my frens are returning to their hectic University life on Monday. For the passed few week, I had been lepaking with them, enjoying my time and discovering interesting places...not to mention we yumcha a lot too.... it was also my first time 'hiking' and have picnic with them. =)

Today pulak, I woke up at 6am, mandi and prepared then out we go to fetch all other people, things went smoothly today as everyone manage to wake up early =). Reached Sg, Gabai at around 9am then we start walking up a series of stairs to reach the peak of the waterfall....Unfortunately, maybe due to to hungry and tired, WT vomited pulak but recover in an instant after we reached the destination. Settled down, we are still reluctant to enter the water so we people start peeling of the 'skin' of some already boiled eggs and prepare for breakfast. (tsk tsk..) In the end, after makan-makan abit we finally started to enjoy the water (although its so cold...). We left around 12.XXpm when the crowd starts to pour in..

1240 - 1pm. I rush everyone back to BoBo's house with my old Toyota Corolla to have a quick shower and change our dirty clothes. Left her house for Pavillion around 1.45pm in TattJhong's X-Trail.. Again, trying to beat the time to collect our movie tickets of 'Transformer2' that is showing at 3pm. Whoa! Guess what, the advertisment for the movie is 30minutes long...the actual movie start only at 3.30pm. And apalah, Michael Bay killed my dream car the Audi R8 at the beginning of the movie!!!

After movie which is around 7pm, we had dinner near SY's place at Taman Megah. That place is famous of its claypot chicken rice (which have different flavor, including Nyonya style, and herbs flavor) which i think is mmg sedap (slurpp...haha)!!! The day should end there, but me, Junyen, 1C, and bobo still tak puas hati, so we went to VI's Campfire which so happens to fall on the same day!!! Well, I'm not sure what we did there all i know is we lepak and lepak cos we are kaki lepak!

i reached home round 11.45pm....tired o........write this thing....then, Zzzzzz......

NyoNya style claypot rice:
And I'm sure we cant see clearly how Optimus really looks like when he is combined with Jetfire in the movie. Hehe, Found this on web:

After sing K, go pulak little Taiwan to makan......

By the time we finished at Little Taiwan is around 4pm already, and most of the guys are broke! But lepaking with our family is just makan makan and makan!!! So, we change a location, to Gasoline to celebrate their birthday, and Makan again!

We memang Kiam Siap, so many people share one small cake!! Haha, cut cost!!! SHOPPING SPREE!!!! 18-20/6/09

Woohoo....it had been a busy weekend and a very exciting one for me =)
On Saturday, i had a damn nice reunion with my so called "family" and all my closest high school friends were there!!! The plan was to have a celebration for peoples who are having birthdays within the first half of the year! It sounded so crazy, but its true!!! =)

Since Thursday,
me, Bobo and WanSee
have been shopping for presents for our other friends
We had problems deciding what kind of gifts
best suit our dearest friends on the first day
especially with an empty stomach...(in my case)
End up, we ate Sushi King and left MV empty-handed
we even went yum-cha at mamak till almost 1.00am
On Friday,
WanSee was late...anyhow,
we manage to get 3 presents,
for TattJhong, HoongHan, and Junyen
I have to admit its a bit weird for
a guy accompanied by two girls to choose a guy's underwear
(HoongHan, please appreciate the gift OK? Wear it!)

10 reasons why you should date a doctor, and MORE!!!

When i was yumcha-ing with two of my close friends yesterday, WanSee and Bobo, i recalled WanSee says that she wouldn't prefer a doctor as his boyfriend, it sounded pretty normal for a girl to think like that, as doctors seem to be always busy and so so....
Well, i think as a future-doctor i should defend myself. So as to counter what she said, here goes the ulimate list of:

WHY YOU SHOULD DATE A DOCTOR

  1. They are smart!!!
  2. Money!!!
  3. They can give you the gift of "missing them" cos they are always at work
  4. They can give you free medical consultation
  5. You don't have to be embarrassed
  6. They know their anatomy well (know what works and where)
  7. They can stay up all night if you want them to
  8. They always try to dress nice
  9. They are well trained to listen
  10. They know how you feel, or at least pretend to!
  11. They are trained in breaking bad news in a nice way
  12. They usually can't express emotions so you end up getting presents instead!
  13. They offer you tissue when you feel like crying (it is a reflex)
  14. They can control their facial expression well, so they always look pleasant infront of the in-laws

So far, thats it... Actually, i found it on some other forum and i came up with some myself. OOoops, there's one more:

15. Let's play doctor and nurse!!!

Now, would you date a doctor??

Why "W" ?

Welcome to my newly created blog!!!
U might think, what 'W' stands for?
Well, you know everyone have their favourite colours, favourite food, favourite moments and so on... It so happened to me, why don't I have a favourite letter instead?? From the 24 letters of A-Z that shaped the foundations of mankind, maybe we find some of them most familiar and have a certain special meaning?

Anyway, my name's Wei Lun, W would now be my initial and i hope you enjoy this blog. I will be posting not only about my life (its hard for me to find a way to put it into words), this blog will also consist of other informations, feedbacks and just-for-fun stuff.
So, thats it for introduction, tata and see ya on the next feed.
